I worked with Olivia in the summer before and during my senior year at UT Austin while studying for my B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. Elaine Lee and I came up with a project on the sublingual delivery of hydrophilic drugs using low-cost and low-toxicity polymer materials. Olivia mentored us on the methods to formulate and study each batch of particles. Olivia guided us in the methodology of writing a research paper based on the methods of experimentation and ran studies to synthesize and characterize particles for their project. We co-authored a review paper on sublingual and buccal delivery (ongoing) as well as a paper on immunotherapies for hematological cancers (published). Since then, I have gone on to pursue my Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from New York University where I am furthering my studies on the synthesis and applications of polymer particles for biomedical purposes.
